EXERCISE RED WING 3

    On a fire-fighting testing site of Sarajevo International Airport the exercise called „Plane crash within SIA“ (RED WING 3) was held on Friday, 3 November 2006. The simulation was made on B737 with 45 passengers and crew members, which was set on fire after the crash.
    The crash was followed by fire-fighting, rescue and evacuation action to save the injured.
    Sarajevo International Airport is obliged to perform such an exercise once in two years. Its purpose is to test fitness of the staff and operativeness of the existing Emergency Plan.
    The exercise involved the following participants:
    • Sarajevo International Airport
    • Institute for Ambulance Service
    • Professional Fire Brigade
    • Sarajevo Canton Police
    • B&H Air Force
    SIA Security Committee, which monitored the exercise all the time, rated the exercise favorably. Fitness of all the partcipants proved to be on a high level.
